The erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) can be used as a nonspecific search technique in case of suspicion of inflammatory reactions, as well as for judgment of their development.
The open sedimentation system consists of an ESR tube made of glass and a graduated pipette.
The closed system consists of an ESR rack (with graduation marks) and a special ESR glass tube. The closed sedimentation system can be used with tubes having a fill volume of 1.36 ml.
